This spring Réka Busci introduced her diplomma film Symphony nº42 at VAF festival. At that time it was only nominated for Berlinale and for an Award of Honour of Anifilm 05 festival. Now, it in the shortlist for the Oscars.
- Réka, what has happened since the end of VAF?
“Since May the film was screened on almost about 100 festivals, and got 36 prizes. We are very satisfied and happy for getting such a great respond from the festival circuit and the audience. I am promoting the film, and I tried to get around on festivals as much as I could. I was at the Hiroshima Animation Film Festival where the film won the Hiroshima Prize, and I visited Valladolid International Film Festival, where the film got the Golden Spike.
Currently most of the time I am working on my new short film title LOVE, in Denmark at the Artist Residence of Open Workshop.”
Réka Bucsi’s 2013 MOME Anim diploma film, Symphony no. 42 has been selected for this year’s Oscars’ shortlist. The jury will choose and announce on January 15th 2015 the 5 actual Oscar nominees of the animated short category.
